Ed portrayed the beauty of microwaves from the Big Bang. Researching how the Universe formed, Belbruno worked with colleagues in the Department of Astrophysical Sciences of Princeton University and the School of Mathematics at the Institute of Advanced Studies on studying microwaves emitted from the birth of the Universe. This series was partially completed in a barn in Bucks County, PA. In 2009, the opera Dr. Atomic opened at the Metropolitan Opera House. As a much talked about event, Ed had a special unveiling of his painting, Oppenheimer Channeled as Microwave Energy of the Universe. The piece honored the work of Robert Oppenheimer and was inspired by the Big Bang. Select originals are available at Agora Gallery, New York, New York.
